PROGRAMS

The Links, Incorporated promotes and engages in a multitude of activities that enrich the lives of members of the Black community. Five programming facets are the cornerstone of our services to the community — Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. These facets guide our efforts as we implement programs, events and initiatives that address the most pressing needs of underserved communities in Clark County, Nevada.

Facets

Services to Youth

The Services to Youth Facet uses an integrated approach of the 5 Facets to prepare youth to succeed as healthy citizens in a global workforce and to promote healthy lifestyles within families and communities. The goal of the Services to Youth Facet is to equip black youth to use their intellect and spirit of achievement to become successful, productive citizens.

The chapter co-hosted a graduation party with Child Haven, celebrating kids matriculating to the next level as well as providing a special gift for graduating seniors. We also hosted two special Girl Scouts as they worked on their Silver and Gold awards by donating personal care items to support their initiatives.

Our chapter also partnered with Once Upon a Room where we brought joy to a wonderful young woman who is fighting a serious illness.

The Arts

Established in 1964, the goal of the Arts Facet is to produce and support programs to enrich the quality of life of African American communities through educational and engaging art experiences while Transforming Communities and Fulfilling Our Purpose

Through this facet our goal is to increase and expand art activity throughout black communities. The Links, Incorporated creates and supports art-related educational opportunities for minority youth as well as presents and supports performances by youth and accomplished professional artists in an array of disciplines.

We partnered with L’Bella Arts in Motion to put on an event entitled Curating a Black Cultural Experience Through the Healing Power of Art. We showcased art in a variety of forms, from spoken word to fashion to paintings, featuring and supporting black artists and entrepreneurs.

National Trends & Services

The vision of the National Trends & Services facet is to empower our communities to eliminate disparities in economic, health, social justice, and other barriers to quality of life.

We are dedicated to raising awareness in these areas by recently supporting our Links, Inc. members who lost their homes in the Southern California fires. We also donated prom dresses, shoes, and purses to the G.I.R.L.S. Group, who organizes an annual event for high school students attending prom.

In another event, members of our chapter volunteered to judge and mentor teens in the NAACP ACTSO Mentoring Competitions.

Our chapter secured an opportunity with the Obodo Collective, an organization focused on creating stability for marginalized communities in a variety of avenues. Our chapter supported the Urban Farm Project by planting produce driving the initiative to provide affordable, accessible fresh produce.

International Trends & Services

The International Trends and Services facet provides services and delivers transformational programs to people of African ancestry globally so that they may have a better quality of life. Programs are designed and developed to service educational, health and cultural needs and to help people emerge from poverty. A primary objective of our international work is to enrich the lives of women and their families.

Health & Human Services

The Health & Human Services (HHS) facet was established in response to the chronic health disparities that persist in black communities and result in the decreased life expectancy of African Americans and other people of African ancestry. The goal of HHS is to promote and facilitate programs that support the maintenance of good health and the elimination of chronic health disparities in communities of color through education, and health advocacy.

Our chapter participated in a food distribution drive with the College of Southern Nevada, providing sustainability to hundreds of families. Additionally, in the fall, we gathered to create breast cancer care packages for a local organization supporting African American communities.
